Jul. 28—The last week has provided more summer in Anchorage than all of June and most of July combined. Here are three outdoor options for weekend entertainment. It's a bit of a jaunt, but Hope should be a hopping place with Sugarfest and the Six Mile Creek Whitewater & Bluegrass Festival this weekend. In Anchorage, rockers Stone Temple Pilots take the stage downtown on F Street. And Anchorage's finest gardens will be on display Sunday during the annual tour presented by the Anchorage Garden Club.

The Super Saturated Sugar Strings are the agent of fun this weekend at Creekbend Co. in Hope. With shows Friday and Saturday, there's plenty of opportunity to see the band performing. The River Livers and Beer Money also play on Friday with Fiona Rose and the Show Ponies joining the River Livers on the bill Saturday. There's also a dad joke competition and a kids show scheduled Saturday. Then Sunday, Super Saturated Sugar Strings member Kevin Worrell brings his variety show Parlor in the Round to the stage for a brunch show at 11 a.m. Check the Creekbend site for ticketing info.

If you want to make the jaunt to Hope and are looking for other options, the Six Mile Creek Whitewater & Bluegrass Festival is a classic Alaska gathering. Located at Mile 3.4 of Hope Road, events get going early on Saturday and run late. It features a whitewater kayak race, a packraft race and an extreme pool toy race plus plenty of music and more. It's a free festival with a decidedly DIY attitude.

Does "Interstate Love Song" hit as hard in a place with no interstates? We're about to find out, Alaska. The iconic '90s rock band Stone Temple Pilots hit the stage with Hoobastank, which might be "The Reason" you're interested in the concert. General admission tickets are $85 with other ticketing options available. Alaska Geographic Society will receive $5 per ticket in donations.

For those who may be game for a more soothing but nonetheless stunning activity, this Sunday is the Anchorage Garden Tour. It gives an opportunity for people to see the best and brightest private gardens in the city. The tour is free and the tour's Facebook page is the best source of information for complete details.

The Anchorage Garden Club asks participants to be mindful of any guidance provided at the host garden location, like not walking on potentially sensitive areas.
